A total of 600 volunteers have completed their training and are ready to support the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, which will be held in Mongolia from August 17–28, 2026.
The training was jointly organized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV), Mongolian Red Cross Society, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Working Office of the COP17 National Committee.
Volunteers have been assigned to four main areas — the Blue Zone, Green Zone, hotels and transportation — and trained on their specific locations, responsibilities and operational procedures during the conference.
With training and organizational preparations now complete, the volunteers are ready to assist delegates and support the smooth operation of the major international gathering.
Under the message “Restoring Land, Restoring Hope,” COP17 will bring the global community together in Ulaanbaatar to advance efforts to combat desertification, land degradation and drought.
