Former President Enkhbayar Appointed to Advisory Committee of Tsinghua’s Institute

Former Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar has been appointed as a member of the International Advisory Committee of Tsinghua’s Institute for Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting Mongolia’s growing engagement with global policy platforms.
The announcement was made during the 14th Tsinghua Sustainable Development Forum, where Enkhbayar delivered a speech as an invited guest. The forum brings together international leaders, policymakers and scholars to address key challenges in sustainable development.
The advisory committee includes prominent global figures such as former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Austrian President Heinz Fischer, former UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, and Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, among others.
In his remarks, Enkhbayar stressed the importance of technological innovation, industrial development and higher value-added production for Mongolia’s long-term growth. He also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in green development, regional initiatives and combating desertification, particularly in the Gobi region.
He further emphasized the need to deepen collaboration in science, technology, education and culture, noting the critical role of universities in driving innovation and knowledge exchange.
Tsinghua Delegation Visit Deepens Institutional Partnership

At the same time, a high-level delegation from Tsinghua University, led by Chairman Qiu Yong, is visiting Ulaanbaatar, marking a new phase in bilateral academic cooperation.
The 16-member delegation includes senior leadership and deans of key faculties, underscoring the strategic importance of the visit. It is the first official visit to Mongolia by Tsinghua’s top leadership.
During the visit, Memoranda of Understanding are expected to be signed with major Mongolian institutions, including the Ministry of Health, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, the National University of Mongolia, the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, alongside DE Mongolia Group.
The agreements aim to establish long-term cooperation in joint research, faculty and student exchanges, dual-degree programs and technology transfer. Key areas include public policy, sustainable development, life sciences, education and biomedical research.
Officials say the visit is expected to turn years of dialogue into concrete outcomes and further strengthen Mongolia–China cooperation through institutional partnerships.
