Yoko Fujimura, Resident Representative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), officially assumed her duties after presenting her credentials to Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg on March 17.
During the meeting, Minister Battsetseg expressed appreciation for IOM’s continued support in advancing Mongolia’s socio-economic development goals, as well as its assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic in helping Mongolian citizens return home from abroad.
She also reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with the organization.
Fujimura, in turn, said IOM will continue to implement its ongoing projects and programs in Mongolia and expressed readiness to work closely with the government in all areas of cooperation.
A Japanese national, Fujimura has extensive experience within IOM, having previously served in missions in Iraq, Kenya, Tanzania, Chad and Liberia.
