The winners of the “Beautiful Mongolian Script – 2025” International Competition, traditionally organized by the Montsame National News Agency and Khumuun Bichig newspaper, have been announced.
The award ceremony and the opening of the exhibition showcasing the best works were held at the Mongolian National Art Gallery. Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, President of Mongolia, attended the event, personally presented awards to first-place winners in each category, and extended his congratulations and best wishes.
In his remarks, the President emphasized that the traditional Mongolian script is a symbol of unity among Mongolian peoples, a vast treasury of knowledge and culture, a testament to statehood and independence, a spiritual key to a thousand-year history, and a priceless heritage of human intellectual culture. He also expressed appreciation to the organizers and all participants for their contributions to researching, preserving, safeguarding, transmitting, and promoting Mongolian script and culture.
The “Beautiful Mongolian Script – 2025” International Competition received more than 1,100 submissions from participants across almost all provinces and districts of the capital city, excluding Govisümber, Bayan-Ölgii, and Övörkhangai provinces. Entries were also submitted from the United States, China (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region), and Russia (Republic of Buryatia).
The highest number of participants came from Khuvsgul, Uvs, and Bayankhongor provinces. Notably, Richard Buangan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Mongolia, also submitted a calligraphy work.
The oldest participants were T. Danaajav, a 74-year-old resident of the 11th khoroo of Sukhbaatar District, and B. Nyam-Ochir from Khatgal soum, Khuvsgul Province. The youngest participant was D. Amina, a six-year-old first-grade student from the “Nutgiin Avarguud” School in Murun soum, Khuvsgul Province.
The Mongolian National Art Gallery will display the submitted works of the “Beautiful Mongolian Script – 2025” International Competition to the public until January 18, 2026.
