Mongolia has completed a national readiness assessment to evaluate its capacity to implement global sustainability reporting standards, with the release of the “Sustainability-Related Reporting: Readiness Assessment – Mongolia” report. The assessment was developed under the Sustainability Disclosure and Management Hubs Programm led by UNDP Financial Centers for Sustainability, as part of the European Union–funded Sustainable Finance Advisory Hub. The initiative was carried out in close collaboration with the Ministry of Finance of Mongolia and a wide range of national stakeholders. The report examines Mongolia’s preparedness to adopt the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, which serve as the global benchmark for sustainability- and climate-related financial reporting. It identifies the country’s existing strengths, highlights key institutional and technical challenges, and sets out strategic priorities to support a phased and locally adapted implementation of the standards. The findings are expected to support policymakers, regulators, and market participants in strengthening sustainability disclosure practices and advancing Mongolia’s sustainable finance agenda.
