With the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the British Embassy in Mongolia, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), and YECAP, a youth-focused dialogue on land and climate leadership was held in Mongolia, bringing together representatives from universities, non-governmental organisations, and youth volunteers of the Mongolian Red Cross Society.
The event aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of COP17 while highlighting Mongolia’s growing leadership role in global climate action. It also outlined concrete opportunities for youth engagement in policy processes, advocacy initiatives, volunteer programmes, and side events to be organised within the framework of COP17.
Participants received in-depth information on COP17, shared ideas and perspectives, and took part in the Climate Movers Workshop, designed to build practical skills required for effective climate action. The initiative marked a new starting point for strengthening youth networks and ensuring sustained youth participation in COP17 and future decision-making processes.
More than 40 young people representing universities, non-governmental organisations, and local civil society organisations successfully completed the UNDP’s regional flagship Climate Movers Workshop and were awarded certificates upon completion.
