A delegation led by Member of Parliament B.Bat-Erdene, Chair of the Mongolia–Republic of Korea Parliamentary Group, is paying an official visit to the Republic of Korea at the invitation of the National Assembly.

Earlier this week, the delegation met with Mongolian citizens living and working in South Korea to listen to their concerns and suggestions. On Tuesday, the Mongolian lawmakers held talks with Joo Ho-Young, vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, focusing on strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and addressing issues faced by Mongolian nationals residing in the country.

Discussions covered a range of practical matters, including the protection of the rights and interests of Mongolian workers, improving the legal status of undocumented Mongolian children, expanding cooperation in the rare earth minerals sector, and advancing ongoing bilateral projects and programmes.

According to official estimates, more than 60,000 Mongolian citizens are currently living and working in South Korea. During a separate meeting held at the Mongolian Embassy, citizens of Mongolia raised several issues, including the provision of subsidies for Mongolian language and cultural education centers, recognition of teachers’ and educators’ professional employment in the education sector, easing eligibility requirements for social welfare support for persons with disabilities living abroad, expanding opportunities for student part-time employment, and improving legal protections for Mongolian children born in South Korea.
