Prime Minister G. Zandanshatar met with UN Resident Coordinator Jaap van Hierden on December 10, 2025. During the meeting, the sides discussed accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17), which Mongolia will host in August 2026.

The Prime Minister underlined that the Government of Mongolia attaches great importance to its partnership with the United Nations. He noted that Mongolia is advancing a draft resolution aimed at increasing transparency in the financing of political parties, election campaigns, and candidates, in line with the UN Convention against Corruption. He also informed that Mongolia is working to establish a regional office of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the country.

UN Resident Coordinator Jaap van Hierden reaffirmed the UN’s readiness to support Mongolia in addressing key socio-economic challenges and ensuring the successful organization of COP17. He emphasized that the UN will continue to assist Mongolia in reducing social inequality, creating jobs, and advancing the energy and digital transitions.
