This year marks the 90th anniversary of the establishment of photography services in Mongolia. To commemorate the occasion, an international scientific conference titled “The Origins and Development of Mongolian Photography” was held on October 8 at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum.
At the conference, 22 researchers from Mongolia, the United States, Japan, and Australia presented papers on various topics. Dr. Ts. Batbaatar, Secretary General of the Mongolian Photographers’ Association and photojournalist, spoke on the origins and development of Mongolian photography.
Other notable presentations included Academician S. Chuluun on “Photographs of Mongolia as Sources for Historical Research,” Dr. M. Saruul-Erdene, researcher at the U.S. Library of Congress, on “Mongolia-Related Photographs in the Library of Congress,” and master photographer and photojournalist P. Battulga on “The Forgotten Film Photography of Today.”
