On October 8, Finance Minister Javkhlan Bold, Japanese Ambassador to Mongolia Igawara Masaru, and Kensuke Miyagi, Chief Representative of JICA in Mongolia, signed an Exchange of Notes on grant aid for the “Project for Improving the Environment for Developing Engineers through Japanese-Style Higher Education.”
Through this project, Japan will provide 1.869 billion yen to support the construction of internship facilities at three Kosen schools in Ulaanbaatar, supply training and laboratory equipment, and organize capacity-building programs for teachers and staff.
Mongolia has introduced the Japanese Kosen-style engineering education system since 2014, and it is now being implemented at six colleges nationwide. Currently, more than 1,700 students and over 250 teachers are involved in the program.
Finance Minister Javkhlan expressed his appreciation, that Japanese-style higher education in engineering and technology is making a valuable contribution to Mongolia’s human resource development and infrastructure.
